The thing about being principal…

The thing about being a principal is that at no time do the words ever come out of my mouth “You know what… your work stories got mine beat.”

Lets take Wednesday as a prime example of this.

Wednesday morning I arrive at work at my normal amazing time, 6:45 am.

Between then and around 8 pm when I arrived home from work I got puked on, a student peed on the playground, I got to wear noise cancelling headphones when a student screamed in my office, we had a fun outbreak of Hand Foot and Mouth Disease at my school, and I had a board go twice the length it normally does.

I also had to cancel school for the next day through voicemail to parents without mentioning Hand Foot and Mouth Disease while sending home a letter about Hand Foot and Mouth Disease and dealing with the concerned phone calls in-between the phone call and the letter reaching parents.

I also had to cancel after school activities 30 minutes before the end of the day and attempt to make sure parents were aware of their children coming home when they expected them to stay after school.

But I got myself a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs at the end of the day, so that helped.

PS – I really do love my job.

  1. Heheh… love it. A true leader of the youth loves what they do not matter what happens.
