New Lens

Ginger

I bought a new lens and bag for the camera Sam got me for Christmas.  I like it if not soley for the fact that it can zoom in much further than the lens that came with the camera (the ‘Kit Lens’…. look at that terminology.  I’m a pro now, right?).  Anyways, Paprika has never looked better.  And you ignore the large amount of guinea pig poo that is in the picture its actually a really nice picture.

So I’m excited.  A new lens (45-150 lens, cause that means stuff to camera people).  A new bag that is a backpack with lots of space for other stuff as well.  Both will serve me well on the oft storied trip to Camp Fitch next week.  But also at school today.  Because it’s TIE DAY.  Everyone wears a Tie.  Or many.  I’m bringing the many in.  It’ll be fun.

This post was really just an excuse to put a picture of Paprika up on the webpage.  She deserves some attention.  Although she’s the louder of the two piggies, she’s often seen as the “follower” and not the alpha piggie.  So we’ll give her a little alpha piggie attention.  Suck it Ginger.

Random Events of Life

In no particular order:

Charity. I went to a charity event at my school yesterday. It was to raise money for students on the Martial Arts team. It wasn’t planned very well, which was not our sensei’s fault, as the middle/high school had joined us (or rather they put it together but wanted to hold it in our building). I mean it was nice, bake sale, DJ, raffle, live auction, and martial arts demo team. However they apparently didn’t advertise, as only 40 – 50 adults where there. Which was a little underwhelming. But I’m glad I showed up. Understandable it was on a Saturday, but I expected at least some staff to show up in support, instead I was the only staff from my building other than the sensei to show up. However I did win a new tv antenna in the raffle, as well as some notebooks, and a dog basket for Jason’s dog Apollo. And in the Auction I won a tray of cupcakes (Sam was adamant about winning cupcakes to bring home), a basketball signed by a harlem globetrotter (the student who donated it really wants it back, I spent $37 to get it back, and I’ll come up with some sort of deal where he can earn it back. Sure it sounds like bribery, but the student was pretty sad that he was donating it. It was basically the main reason I showed up, getting it back for him.)

Pumpkin. I’ve started feeding my cats some pumpkin with their canned cat food. They’ve had particularly stinky poops lately. And Angelo has just been a mess. All over. Apparently pumpkin is a magic kind of cat food that treats both diarrhea and constipation, and also helps with the stench. Here’s hopping. They both like it though.

Ginger and Paprika. Ginger and Paprika have started getting along. We are working towards moving them into one cage. They spent about 12 hours together yesterday but are having trouble figuring out who is the dominate guinea pig. I told Sam not to worry, our brains are a gazillion times bigger than their guinea pig brains so we can trick them into being friends without much problem.

Sam. She’s cute.

Jason. Doing well after Danei had Harvey. Damn cute kid, who I’m sure will grow up awesome.

However, his friend Walt died recently afterwards. I know, its that weird life/death thing, but it is crazy, and he died in what can only be called ‘suspicious’ circumstances. I hope things get sorted out soon. Jason is an amazing guy and friend and has had way too many ups and downs in his life recently. The last thing anyone needs is a good friend dying, and beyond that dying in a way that leaves a lot of questions.

Antenna. I am going to use that new antenna from the auction to watch the Super Bowl today. I don’t really care about it, but I do despise the New England Patriots. And because Tom Brady endorses watching sports on illegal streaming sites, I will never feel bad about watching the Bills games that way again.

Shopping. We spend more on vegetables for the Guinea Pigs than we do on vegetables for ourselves. They even get better vegetables than we do. We buy the bag of chopped up lettuce and they get the fresh heads of lettuce. We buy tomatoes in a plastic basket. They get freshly cut parsley.

Stability. I was thinking about the relative stability in my life now as opposed just a year ago, or hell, how unstable my life was 2 years ago. Its nice.

Work. I sort of feel like I’m stepping it up at work lately. It feels nice. Although I need some more work pants and I need to buy button down shirts from somewhere other than Target, it seems all of the males at work shop there, I recognize my same shirts on others and thank god we wore them on opposing days.

Diet. Its February. I decided to use this month to keep track of everything I eat. What I realize is that I don’t eat a lot, but it heavily lies in me eating in the afternoon and night (I don’t eat at all until about 11:15 on most days, and then don’t snack/eat until I’m home from work). I need to spread it out a little more. I suppose I’ll need to start eating breakfast.
