Day Two-Hundred and Six

One is a wine stopper. The other is someone from behind.

This is one of my favorite recent drawings. Its from an Oasis song.

Just a random drawing. No explanation.

I thought I'd sketch my sketch pad.

I was just doodling here. Not quite happy with the results, but its what I doodled anyways.

Day Two-Hundred

So I look a little angry in this one. Its supposed to be me with my chin down but looking up. Except I do look angry in it. By the way. Two Hundred drawings. Pretty damned good. And I'm way better at drawing now than when I started.

I really enjoy drawing eyes. I think I'm getting a lot better at it I think.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Eight

I had trouble coming up with ideas of what to draw today. Its a mish mash of stuff.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Seven

Eh....its ok. Better than the last two days of drawings. I was listening to Mayonnaise by the Smashing Pumpkins over and over again. Strange story....mayonnaise is one of those things I hate based off of my knowledge of it alone. I haven't bought mayonnaise in almost a decade now. I just.....I can't buy it knowing what its made from. It is basically eggs and oil and some other crap. I'm not saying it doesn't taste good. When I do go out and eat and it comes on something I don't scrap it off. But I won't buy it myself.

I liked the front hand of this one, and feel a little less positive about the rest. I almost didn't finish this one. I didn't like the second hand and then hated the forearm that attached to that hand. But I forced myself to finish the shoulder and head.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Five

I was not too pleased with myself on this one. One of the horrible and awesome things about drawing in pen is that its permanent. The "correct way" to draw is to sketch in pencil then go over the lines you like in ink, and erase the light pencil. Or at least thats what I recall from the little art training I've had from high school. I never bothered with that. I draw in pen and once it touches the paper there is no taking it back. Sucks sometimes.

I really love my necklace. I mean I put it together myself from bits and pieces of other necklaces and bracelets I've had over the years. This drawing came out pretty well too. I was really happy with it.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Three

My friend Pat is an interesting fellow. If you can't tell from the drawing Pat was really happy in this picture. Maybe cause it was 5 am and he was still drunk at a dinner. That's probably it.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety-Two

I have this crazy old photo of me from 1997 when I had huge hair. I looked like an 80's hair band singer.

The foot is a little short. It needs to be longer. But oh well, still looks pretty good.

Day One-Hundred and Ninety

I had decided to try and draw someone other than myself. I pulled out this old photo of my old friend (of whom I haven't talked to in a long time) Alena Risinger. I did alright. I kind of like it. The face might be a little long.

I drew a picture of me on break at work today. Nothing big, but I do love how it came out.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Eight

On my bike ride today I decided to listen to some relevant Easter music. By relevant I mean the Jesus and Mary Chain. My ride lasted longer than the 50 minutes of Jesus and Mary Chain music I have, so I switched up to Nirvana, its a stretch but in name alone you can make some connection to Easter. While listening to Incesticide the song Molly's Lips got stuck in my head. I first heard the song while listening to my friends band in high school. '62 Buick I think they were called. Later I heard the Nirvana versions (its a Vaseline's song) and its been one of my favorite Nirvana songs ever since.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Seven

'Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to her kitchen chair
She broke your throne and cut your hair
And from you lips she drew the Hallelujah.'

~Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

I heard this song watching the movie Lord of War today. Its a great movie and this song is played really low in the background during the climax of the movie. I had to look up who it was sung by because it was stuck in my head. Its fantastic.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Six

One-hundred days into the New Year. One-hundred days and one-hundred sketches. I feel pretty good about that. I picked up a new sketch book to start tomorrow.

Not too long ago Jenna sent me a picture of a tattoo she wanted to get. It said "All the stars in my sky for you." Its from a piece of work by an artist she likes. The first time I read it I swore it said "all the stars in my sky fall." I've always liked that as a better phrase. So I had this image in my head of a man looking up and then falling stars all around him. I think this came out really well.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Five

I like this. I was listening to the Wicker Park soundtrack today. It was one of Jenna's favorite movies. I always held that it would have been better if it was set in the 1990's, before cell phones were prevalent. The lyric is from a Mates of State song that is on the soundtrack called "These Days." Apparently its a cover of a Jackson Browne song.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Four

I really wasn't happy with this one either. Because the face an neck were looking down it was an odd angle. My last Mandy's Daycare pen died too. So I'm drawing with a new pen. It is a little lighter than the Mandy's Daycare pens I have been using. It also is not as easy flowing. But I'll use it until it runs out and then get a new one.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Three

I wanted to draw someone sitting with their hands on their knees. For a lot of these shots I take a picture of myself and then try to draw it. In this one I was unhappy that with the lower part of the body. One of the reasons for drawing in ink, and for using a sketch pad, is that I see all my mistakes there, and can't take them back or throw them away.

Day One-Hundred and Eighty-Two

This lyric is from a Clash song. I had this image in my head. I'm not sure where I've seen it before. I look up a tree, and then a man sitting, and combined them.

This lyric is from a Sorry About Dresden song. The song is called Beds and Lawns.

I absolutely love this drawing. I found a washed out black and white picture of two people kissing and drew it. The lyrics are from the song Black Metallic by the Catherine Wheel.

Day One-Hundred and Seventy-Nine

For a while now, the song "I'm lonely (but I ain't that lonely yet)" by the White Stripes was on my mind. I put the song title up for my Facebook status thinking it was funny. It is.

I had this picture I really liked of me reaching for the camera. I kind of distorted this a little bit, but still came out well.

Day One-Hundred and Seventy-Seven

I wasn't happy with this drawing. It was supposed to be a girl kissing a boy. Didn't work. And I ended up scribbling over the guy.
