Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Nine

I was tired and lounging at Dan's when I drew this. Its a fast sketch.

Day Three-Hundred and Eigthy-Eight

I have this picture of me with my face pressed against a table. You can only see half my face in it. I like it. Its not sad nor happy. Just is.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Seven

I wasn't into drawing tonight. I really wanted to go to bed. So this is what I got.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Six

Just a guy walking by his lonesome. Because that's how it is.

ajc10272009
|

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Five

A distinctly different turn in theme from the last couple nights.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Four

Down and out and ready to give in. But he's still standing. There's a lot to be said to remaining on your feet.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Three

Some of the simplest drawings come out the best.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-Two

My Blue Heaven is one of my favorite Smashing Pumpkins songs ever. I only recently found out that it is a remake of a 1920's song. Crazy isn't it.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty-One

Just a self portrait. Not the best, but that's ok.

Day Three-Hundred and Eighty

These are just some quick outline sketches for a drawing I'll hopefully do in the near future.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Nine

Ever envision eyes burning into you. Me too.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Eight

Just happy little balloons floating away.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Seven

This was a quick sketch I did. It didn't come out anywhere near how I pictured it but then again I had to do it fast as my friend was arriving. As the Facts of Life theme song goes, "You take the good you take the bad."

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Six

I was watching the Matrix Dezionized today. And there is the song in it from Nine Inch Nails called Every Day Is Exactly the Same. It stuck in my head. And I wanted to draw something that seemed to be looking into the future. I figured an eye would be an appropriate thing to draw. And yes I see the spelling mistake. But its pen.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Five

I never finished this one, but that's ok. I have this issue with drawing one thing I like and screwing up the rest. Like say I love the face and hair in this one but blew the pinkie finger. I still like the drawing.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Four

I went back through my old drawings today and came across a lyric from the song Black Metallic. This is a drawing to the same song from today. Black Metallic is a fantastic song. It was nice to revisit the song. I started by drawing the long black piece, and then pictured myself just laying on it staring at the sky as he listened to the same song I was. How i could just stare and zone to the song.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Three

I was trying to figure out what Nirvana song I wanted to draw too. I knew I wanted to draw to Nirvana. Ended putting Dumb on repeat and let my mind go.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-Two

I was cleaning the room and listening to the Wussy today. Just felt like drawing this. Exactly this.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy-One

I spent the whole day cleaning my classroom at work. It needed it. Anyways I listened to the Gorillaz today, and one song that stuck in my head was Kids with Guns. So I drew kids with guns.

Day Three-Hundred and Seventy

The best part about my apartment is that heat is included. And they crank it. When its on at least. So in these pre-heat times we are in right now, I light some candles and enjoy their warming glow. And I also turn on the lava lamp. Sophomore year of college at Niagara that lamp was the only source of heat in Sean and my dorm room. We would turn on the lava lamp, let it warm up and then put our hands on it to keep them warm. When it was really cold you would hold the lava lamp to your chest to keep warm. That's good money spent on college there.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Nine

A little Autolux never hurt anyone. I was listening to the song Sub-Zero Fun. The opening lyric is "you're my preferred route down." I thought it profound. This picture looks so much better in my sketchbook than it does here for some reason. and I still have some trouble shading with pen. I mean I try all sorts of shading, but when you're using one pen, and using pen alone, there's not much blending you can do. Or at least that I can do.

Yessum.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Seven

Everyone has that door. That thing they have to cross. That thing they should do but don't. But I'm just metaphorizing (look I made a word up). I was listening to All Along the Watchtower (Bear McCreary version....its good I swear). I meant to write "There must be some way out of here" and instead wrote There must be somewhere I can go. I was thinking when I wrote it. Maybe its subconscious and I am a shut in and this is my mind speaking to me. Probably not.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Six

I almost drew this yesterday. But there was a different song in my mind then. Today it was Roll the Credits. It has some sort of finality to it, but its haunting. Which is what I wanted. A song that sticks to your gut and sticks with you afterwards. So I thought I would go with direct symbolism. Copied straight out of the song. I added the guy on the dock. One person not two. It seems like an ending not a continuation. Or at least that's what I got from listening to the song over and over.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Five

One Year. Holy crap. I spent all day thinking about what to draw. I wanted something special but couldn't figure out what. I had been listening to Peter, Bjorn and John for a decent chunk of the day. The song Up Against the Wall was stuck in my head. Not so much the lyrics, but the singer's voice, and the beat of the song. So I drew while listening to that song. I spent the better part of an hour trying to find a picture to draw from. I had the image in my mind, and eventually found this picture. It was pretty close to what I pictured, so I drew from it.

Here it is. Drawing 365.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Four

I do not know, but it did come out how I pictured it.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Three

Yessum. I do like this.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-Two

The first time I heard Spiritualized was actually in concert when they opened for Radiohead in Radio City Music Hall. It was for Radiohead's OK Computer tour. Spiritualized was overwhelming. I remember being soaked, we had walked blocks in the rain to get there. But it didn't matter. Spiritualized was amazing. The song, Ladies and Gentlemen we are Floating in Space is awesome.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty-One

I just wanted to draw a picture of someone who wasn't quite awake. Someone laying on their hand. I looked at a bunch of pictures and found one looking similar to this. Not quite this, but similar.

Day Three-Hundred and Sixty

This is a self portrait. I think it came out pretty well.
