Driveways

Marceline was having a rough morning.  Just sleepy and didn’t have a lot of energy to get going this morning.

It was hard just getting her out the door, and despite being awake an hour before we had to get the out the door she was still eating breakfast while walking to the bus stop.

So I made a game of our walk to the bus stop where we would try to set one step onto every driveway on the way, and try to be secret about it.

We snickered and laughed while we zigzagged sneaking back and forth across the street to step on everyone’s driveways on the way to the bus.

I’m sure it looked ridiculous, but totally worked to cheer her up and get her emotionally ready for the bus and school.

Small things like that make me really glad I’m a parent.  Just things I’d never experience if we didn’t have kids.

New License Plate

A few weeks ago Edith put some stickers on a post-it note and wanted a place to put it.  So we put on Sam’s car.

In Ohio you don’t need a front license plate anymore so newer used vehicles may still have the spot for a license plate that you may never use, such as Sam’s car we bought a few years ago.

Thankfully Edith was happy to accommodate.

Deadly Acorns

I’ve been enjoying picking up acorns while I’m walking lately. I bring them back to our house and the squirrels grab them almost instantaneously.

What I’ve really enjoyed is that every once in a while I pick up a deadly acorn. It has a tip on it that’s so sharp it feels like it could cut my fingers.

Kind of enjoy the monotony of pressing my thumb up against the point over and over again.

I wonder if this is why all those squirrels are seen dead on the side of the road…. Deadly acorn to the head straight from the trees above.

A Forest

Earlier in the week I was watching The Penguin on Max…  The episode ended with a song by the Cure.

Now the Cure has long been one of my favorite bands.  I’ve seen them a few times in concert, and used to collect all their albums, back when that was a thing.

When the song started playing it was only a few cords before I knew the song and it made me smile.  Been listening to them on and off for a few days.

Anyways the song was ‘A Forest

Totally got the lyric wrong… It’s ‘while you can’ not ‘if you can’
