PA Dreams

I am in Pennsylvania visisting Pat and after a fun night of Sarah, Pat, and myself going outto a pub I had some strange dreams.

Dream 1
I was part of the Avengers, you know that superhero group. We had tracked a threat to a house that had a huge swimming pool in the lawn. No on was around but hanging in the pool was a large metal disc. The disc was hollow inside and had twelve slots in the side.

One by one Avengers jumped on the disc and slid themselves into the slots. As we did this it started swinging back and forth (it was hung by a chain over the pool). I was the last Avenger to jump on and slide into a slot. There were now twelve of us in the disc, the slots were so small that you could not move, but your head did stick out. Just then the disc swung hard to one side, made a low fast swing across the pool and broke the chain flinging into the air.

I think I was Captian America (one of the Avengers) and managed to slip out ontop of the disc as it flung into the air. The disc didn’t reach an apex but kept getting higher and higher. I looked down to start seeing writing on roof tops, including the house we started at. As the disc got high enough I saw what was written: “3,580 shall know the truth.”

Dream 2
I was at an aquarium fo a family work dinner. I sat down and had sone gifts for a parent that their child had made. Unfortunately the paren never showed up. Instead I went with a small group of people up into a floor at the top of a skyscraper.

Once we got up there our host told us we were going to die. My friend, of whom I never really knew who she was, and I ran. We got cornered by the host’s friend but I managed to bash his head into the wall (multiple times). I was really angry with this guy because he used to be my friend and now he was goin help the person that to torture us. He kept saying “she’s right, she’s right;” referring to the person who wanted to torture us.

I knew we couldn’t take the elevators down with her knowing, nor could we go down the stairs because they we pressure sensitive and she would know. We did find a room with computers (they looked like servers) and just started trashing them. I then could the host in the next room strt screaming because the police would be there soon now.

Fingernails and Garfield

A long time ago I read a Garfield comic where Garfield walks up to Jon and says something like “Jon, I’ve got a serious problem!!! I go to sleep and then BAM…. 8 – 10 hours later I am wide awake.” All the while Garfield is disheveled and has bags under his eyes.

I sometimes feel the same way about my fingernails. I clip them and keep them short, but they seem to find time to grow at stupid rates when I am not looking. Maybe I just don’t know what the usual time frame for clipping your figernails is, but I clip them just over once a week. About every 9 days or so.

And everytime I look down at them they are either short, meaning just clipped; or they are long and need to be clipped. I never notice that in between couple. Hence the Garfield reference. It’s like I clip them and then BLAM, 8 – 10 days later they are long and need to be clipped again.

A Long Time Coming…

So after nearly a month away from updating my site I’m back. I’ve been meaning to write in here for a bazillion reasons, but held off on it. I started a few entries but never finished them. So I’ll run through a list of topics that I considered writing entries but for one reason or another (laziness is a reason) I didn’t finish:

– Buffalo Visit / Fixing Dan’s Car / Mastery
– Declawing Cats / Why it’s ok
– July 4th / Reg and Matt visit / Frisbee Golf / 12% alcohol beer
– Its Hot / How to sweat sitting down
– Sarah meets my friends / Things go well!!!
– The IRS / WTF
– Museum of Natural History / Freaking Rocks
– Ferretgammo / How I named our ferret after a 24 character
– Ferretgammo part ii / Hide the remotes
– Exercise / Habit forming… Or is it?

Anyways, I miss blogging, so I’m back.

Lastest news… Sarah’s moving in. Yeah, it’s not surprising considerig she’s spent the last three weeks here, but it’s exciting none-the-less. So we have a trip to visit Pat for a night Saturday, then four days relaxing on the beach in Delaware with my family, then back here for cleaning and making space in my closets for all of Sarah’s stuff (well here stuff that isn’t already over at my place). And I said we because Sarah is accompanying me on said trip (Yayyyy!!)

I am stupidly excited to meet Wyatt and Takara (my nephew and niece). I haven’t seen them yet… It’s been a long time since I’ve seen any family. But that’s what Delaware is for. Family and relaxing. And I can’t wait. Also for Grotto Pizza and Fractured Prune Donuts. But those are secondary.

Pocket Watch

About a year after I graduated from Niagara, maybe a year and half I scoured eBay to find a pocket watch.  Going back a year before I graduated, my friend Kevin graduated from college and for his graduation I bought him a pocket watch.  He swore to return the favor when I graduated.  When it was obvious that it fell through, I began looking for my own.

After a few months searching I came across one that I really wanted.  It met my criteria.  I wanted a watch that older (not a new one), a watch that was wind up (no battery operation), and it had to have a cover that opened when the latch button was pushed.  It wasn’t easy to find.  A lot of pocket watches are battery operated, and a lot of older watches are freaking expensive.  But I found one.  In Ukraine.  The thing was, it was cheap too.  Relatively.  It cost around $40.00, around $50.00 with shipping.

It was an old Soviet era watch.  I can’t find a date on it, but it has a stamped Russian Empire small state seal on it.  I wore near every day.  I freaking loved it.  A lot.  And then, after years of use, including being repaired once (thank you Jenna), I lost it.  I couldn’t find it at all.  And few months after losing it, I moved.

Since moving I had written off the pocket watch as gone forever.  I’ve even looked at other watches, but I couldn’t find one of the same calibre, or even close to that price.  AND TODAY I FOUND IT.  In my old couch, way scrounched in back, in the crease under cushions and not visible even when cushions were removed.  I was extatic.  So I shall share some picturey goodness.
