2014

Holy Cow.

Its 2014.  That’s nuts.  I never thought I’d make it this long.  Really.  My track record was seriously injure myself every 4 years.  I’m way overdue.  I figure my body is just saving it up for one huge injury resulting in massive bed rest or death.  But here I am, bucking the trend I set for myself.

So yeah, I’ve been on break for two weeks and I’m way ready to get back to work.  How sad is that?  I was ready for work Sunday.  After one week off I was ready to go back.  This extra week has been a wash of movies and video games.  Nothing of value (I have read a whole book in this week.  So that counts I suppose).

I’ve also been playing with my new camera.  Sam bought me a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 mirrorless camera for Christmas.  Angelo has never had so many pictures of himself taken.  He was a test subject this whole last week.  I put it to good use while home too.

The other thing about this break is the really weird dreams I’ve been having.  No one is in them, but they’ve been about the ocean and beach.  But not a warm summer ocean day, colder weather, fog, not real wildlife or noise, just splashing and walking around in low tide waves.  Its weird.

I’m going to try and get back to fun little posts.  I’ve been slightly conscious because of work of what I post on here, but that doesn’t mean I should hold back or abstain from posting.  I doubt anyone from work sees this anyways, but you never know.

I burst out laughing when I read this short quote in the Christopher Moore book I finished.

“She’s so small, yet she contains so much evil….” ~Fluke

It was late at night and I was tired when I read it.  It may have been funnier then than it is now.

Dreams of Old

For the last week or so all of my dreams have somehow involved people from Queensbury.  Maybe it is because I’m heading home for a week (in a week!), but they’ve been interesting to say the least.

Last night’s dream involved a camping trip.  But it was more like “Going to Camp” than actually camping.  Cabins in the woods and such.  Shane, Reggie, Colin, Yousey (sorry dan, I just struggle to refer to you by your first name for some reason) and even Kevin.  It was bizarre.  We all were sitting around a round table in the main cabin talking about all the things we would do in the woods.  Hiking, boating, and general bullshitting about this and that.

I got up and went to the bathroom, which was on the second floor of the cabin.  It had a bathroom very reminiscent of a bar in Buffalo.  In other words it had trough as the urinals.  No ice though!

On the way back down the maintenance man had removed the bottom half of the stairs and I had to leap to the floor off the second floor.  By the time I got back to the table it had started to get dark outside and it had started raining.  When I sat back down there was about 5 more people sitting with us.  Colin had apparently made friends with some people sitting next to us and pushed the tables together.   There was a crack of lightning outside the cabin and the windows glowed bright for a second.  Shane immediately suggested we go wandering outside in the rainstorm.  No one objected and we got up to go.

That’s where it ended.  Like I said, I’ve probably had five dreams involving people from Queensbury in the last week.

Just… strange.

It’s the little things….

Now that the heat has turned on, morning showers are all that much more comfortable.

I throw my towel over the radiator when I jump in the shower in the morning.  A few minutes later when I step out there is a warm towel waiting for me.  It is a world of difference on a cold morning to use a warmed towel.

It’s the little things that help in the morning.

A little bit of this

08292011AJCI go throw these streaks where I have pretty vivid dreams for a month or so and then they stop.  So last night I had a pretty vivid dream, and being that all I did yesterday was work, buy new shoes, and watch the Sabres lose… well a vivid dream is a lot more interesting to write about than any of those.

It begins with me stealing something from a skyscraper.  Not just any skyscraper, but one of the World Trade Center Towers. Only its after it had fallen down, but was intake.  No rubble, no broken windows, nothing.  Its like someone had grabbed it, snapped off the top 20 floors and laid it on its side.  However, despite it being on its side gravity inside the building worked as normal.  I knew it was on its side, but I still walked down stair cases, jumped railings, and even used a fire pole inside the building to get out.

And I walked out the bottom into a rocky landscape.  My whole family was there, but it was when I was a teenager.  It was some rocky British coastline beach.  There were all the dragonfly looking bugs.  When they landed on you they didn’t bite you, but burrowed under your skin.  I looked at my arm and saw the impression of a whole bunch of bugs there.  I pinched the impression of a bug and had to rip it out from under my skin.  It didn’t hurt, but was kind of bloody.  I didn’t think much of it.

The beach had a shallow wading pool in it.  Just an area where fish were getting trapped.  I sat by it watching them swim around until I realized the water level had rose and some were nibbling my toes.  At this point someone on the beach had just realized that the bugs had burrowed themselves into peoples arms and started screaming.  I tried to tell people it wasn’t a big deal but, understandable, people where freaked out.

That’s when I woke up. I never did figure out what I was stealing.  The whole thing looked a little dystopian with the broken skyscraper in the background the whole time.  Weird…  But interesting at least.
