A little bit of this

08292011AJCI go throw these streaks where I have pretty vivid dreams for a month or so and then they stop.  So last night I had a pretty vivid dream, and being that all I did yesterday was work, buy new shoes, and watch the Sabres lose… well a vivid dream is a lot more interesting to write about than any of those.

It begins with me stealing something from a skyscraper.  Not just any skyscraper, but one of the World Trade Center Towers. Only its after it had fallen down, but was intake.  No rubble, no broken windows, nothing.  Its like someone had grabbed it, snapped off the top 20 floors and laid it on its side.  However, despite it being on its side gravity inside the building worked as normal.  I knew it was on its side, but I still walked down stair cases, jumped railings, and even used a fire pole inside the building to get out.

And I walked out the bottom into a rocky landscape.  My whole family was there, but it was when I was a teenager.  It was some rocky British coastline beach.  There were all the dragonfly looking bugs.  When they landed on you they didn’t bite you, but burrowed under your skin.  I looked at my arm and saw the impression of a whole bunch of bugs there.  I pinched the impression of a bug and had to rip it out from under my skin.  It didn’t hurt, but was kind of bloody.  I didn’t think much of it.

The beach had a shallow wading pool in it.  Just an area where fish were getting trapped.  I sat by it watching them swim around until I realized the water level had rose and some were nibbling my toes.  At this point someone on the beach had just realized that the bugs had burrowed themselves into peoples arms and started screaming.  I tried to tell people it wasn’t a big deal but, understandable, people where freaked out.

That’s when I woke up. I never did figure out what I was stealing.  The whole thing looked a little dystopian with the broken skyscraper in the background the whole time.  Weird…  But interesting at least.

Imaginary Ankle Sprains

05162011AJCI have trouble when I watch movies where people sprain their ankles.  Break a bone, lose a limb, all bloody…. doesn’t affect me.  Sprained ankle.  I’ll twinge and look away.

So when I have a dream where I sprain my ankle, I wake up and my ankle definitely feels like it has been sprained.

Awesome.

That Dream

IV LegoI had a high school dream last night.

It wasn’t so much about high school as it involved high school people.

Well not even that, but Shane, Reggie, Colin and Yousey (why I continually refer to him as Yousey instead of Dan I’ll never know).

And they weren’t so much involved in the dream as people on the side.

It did start off in my high school parking lot.  I was trying to drive home but my car was stalled.  Colin and Reggie drove by, with Reggie in the passenger seat.  He unrolled his window like he was going to say something to me but instead drove by laughing (maybe Colin was laughing, he was driving).

Yousey was in the parking lot somewhere.  With no ride I started walking home through the Potter Road Woods.  But really it was the woods up on the mountain below Shane’s house.  I did have my cell phone with me and decided to call Shane for a ride.  He informed me he was too busy reading a book to come get me.  In my dream…. that made absolutely perfect sense and I didn’t argue with him.

I think it started to rain and turned to night immediately after I talked to Shane.  I just kept on walking.  Its one of those parts I can picture in my head but can’t remember from the dream.  I think my brain is trying to fill in gaps.

Anyways, I walked til there was snow overlooking a lake, or maybe it was one of the reservoirs up on the mountain.  I don’t know.  But I got there, and it was snow covered but  clear night.  And I sat down. But it wasn’t cold.

And then I woke up.

Wasn’t a bad dream.  Kind of nice in that nostalgic sort of way.

Waking Up to..

Robin-Hood-disneyI woke up to the Disney classic animated Robin Hood movie in my head.

I used to love this movie.  It had good music, awesome Disney animation, animal characters (I loved animal characters) and a fun plot.  Stupid good fun.

But the song…. That one song.  Especially if you speed it up a little bit.  It doesn’t need it, but it is addictive in my head because my brain plays it at 4x speed. My brain plays it at ‘Hamster Dance’ speed (yes, it was that song).

So here you go…. a piece of my mind right now.

Where have I been

Just call me ‘Director Charpentier.’

I’m the director of the school I work at now.  It is a transition of epic proportions.

Just as being a teacher doesn’t adequately prepare you for being part of administration, being just a part of administration doesn’t necessarily prepare for all aspects of being Director.  But that’s ok.  I’m picking it up, and actually the transition isn’t bad.  But my days are long.  I get to work at 6:45 am, and don’t leave until after five, usually closer to 6.  This will die down to semi-reasonable hours soon.  But I am prepared for the long days for the foreseeable future.  It includes making lots and lots of lists.

So yeah…. I’m busy, but its a good busy.

Here’s a sneak peak at my lists for next week at work.
