Shaven

I’m freshly shaven now, from a Sabres loss.  And to be honest, I’m impressed with how far this team made it, and depressed and let down with how poorly they played in this game tonight.

The problem with being a Sabres fan is they can make you forget how much of a underdog they are.  How they “aren’t supposed to win.”  That was this series.  The Sabres weren’t even supposed to get into the playoffs this year.  But they did.  And they did it with a stretch of games that were impressive to watch.  As that underdog team they get you from just rooting for them, to throwing your whole lot in with them.

Or at least that’s it for me.  I end up getting excited about seeing them play, and watching them play well.  And as soon as I put all my hopes and energy behind the team, because they’ve finally made me believe that this season they are going to pull it off, I get let down.  And it happens year after year.  Season after season.  Hell, some years it happens multiple times a season.

But I keep coming back.  Cause they’re my team.  And they show me how exciting hockey can be, and then when it counts, I get crushed by my team.  But I’ll be back with the team in the fall.  And I’ll yell and scream and get excited again.  And maybe, just maybe, sometime in the next 40 years of Sabres history, they can make me yell and scream and get excited all season till the end, when they raise the Cup.

Weird

I had a dream that Sam and I were back in Queensbury at my parents.  It was summer, and nighttime.  We were out in front and there was a delivery man in a car on the corner.  He couldn’t find the house he was looking for, but knew it was right there.

He kept asking me who lived where and I really had no clue (its been a long time since I lived in Queensbury).  I offered to give him my number if he had any questions.  The only problem was I couldn’t remember my number.  And when I did the pen didn’t work.  After a while of trying different pens and writing a number that ended with my pin number (no i won’t tell you my pin) the dream shifted to a room where everyone was changing their skin color (there was some machine that did it).

When I declined to change my skin color (I’m quite happy with who I am and wouldn’t change a thing) I was called racist.  Then my phone rang.  It was Mr. Link (Linck??). Is it sad that I don’t remember how to spell his last name, I went to school with his children.  Anyways, he had called because he was locked out of his house and supposedly I had a spare key for his house (he lived alone at this point).  I got up (I was laying down for some reason) to go find the key.

Then I woke, extremely confused.

Transcredicble

From The Transcredible Exploits of Zapp Branigan:

Emperor Chop Chop: No one can save you now, Leela.

Leela Actress: Well, what about Zapp Brannigan?

Emperor Chop Chop: Well, obviously, Zapp Brannigan can save you, but— [the door opens and Zapp, walks in] Zapp Brannigan!

Zapp: So, Emperor Chop Chop, once again we meet at last! Drop that space gun or I’ll shoot! Like so! [shoots the villain and unties the actress portraying Leela]

Leela Actress: Oh, Zapp! Tie me back up and ravish me!

Zapp: I’d like to, Leela. So I will.

And that is why Zapp Branigan rules.

Game Two

Game Two.

To get fired up I’ve been reading sports columns from outside the Buffalo area. They all play up the Flyers while dismissing the Sabres as a team with only one talented player… Miller.

I see it as: the Flyers gave all they could in game one, played the best they can and were shut down by a Buffalo team that is capable of playing way better.

Beard and I are prepared.
