Plastic Angelo

Plastic AngeloAngelo has this weird fixation with plastic.  Usually it is plastic bags with edges.  Here it was just flimsy plastic that something was wrapped in.  Angelo spent 20 minutes just licking it.  He was in heaven.

He liked it so much that we didn’t through it away for a couple of days.  We just kept this piece of plastic on the floor for Angelo to lick.  He didn’t bite it, just licked it.  Extremely weird.

But he’s my cat.  He can have all the weird tendencies he wants.  So far he licks plastic, announces his poo’s, his spot on the (and will stare you down for it), doors opened for him, and to be touching at least one person when he sleeps on the bed or couch.

Like I said, he’s getting old and can have all the weird tendencies he wants.  We’ll blame it on his steroids.

2014

Holy Cow.

Its 2014.  That’s nuts.  I never thought I’d make it this long.  Really.  My track record was seriously injure myself every 4 years.  I’m way overdue.  I figure my body is just saving it up for one huge injury resulting in massive bed rest or death.  But here I am, bucking the trend I set for myself.

So yeah, I’ve been on break for two weeks and I’m way ready to get back to work.  How sad is that?  I was ready for work Sunday.  After one week off I was ready to go back.  This extra week has been a wash of movies and video games.  Nothing of value (I have read a whole book in this week.  So that counts I suppose).

I’ve also been playing with my new camera.  Sam bought me a Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 mirrorless camera for Christmas.  Angelo has never had so many pictures of himself taken.  He was a test subject this whole last week.  I put it to good use while home too.

The other thing about this break is the really weird dreams I’ve been having.  No one is in them, but they’ve been about the ocean and beach.  But not a warm summer ocean day, colder weather, fog, not real wildlife or noise, just splashing and walking around in low tide waves.  Its weird.

I’m going to try and get back to fun little posts.  I’ve been slightly conscious because of work of what I post on here, but that doesn’t mean I should hold back or abstain from posting.  I doubt anyone from work sees this anyways, but you never know.

I burst out laughing when I read this short quote in the Christopher Moore book I finished.

“She’s so small, yet she contains so much evil….” ~Fluke

It was late at night and I was tired when I read it.  It may have been funnier then than it is now.

Every Morning Starts the Same Way

Morning Cat

I wake up every morning to Angelo.  He sleeps on the bed, he follows me around, and most every morning when I sit down to drink some coffee and read the news, he’s right there next to me purring and pawing at my legs.  It’s more dog behavior than cat, but I guess he’s pretty loyal for a cat.

Angelo and Skunky

AngeloAngelo has been getting more and more active in the last few weeks / months.

He’s been sick for a while, some sort of intestinal thing, and I think the steroids he’s been taking for months have finally built up enough in his system that he thinks he’s a “He-Kitty” and thus Master of the Universe.  Or at least the apartment.

Angelo will now stare us down if we are in his spot (any corner of the couch or bed) and makes sure he flashes you his butt as he turns around in front of you.  He also bats at thinks, and goes crazy several times a day clawing at furniture.  Sadly I don’t think he knows he doesn’t have front claws.

SkunkyAnd of course, his new best friend is Skunky.  Skunky is a squeaky toy shaped like a skunk (obviously).  And every time he is touched he squeaks loudly.  I’ve woken up to find Angelo batting him around at 2am at several occasions.  I also knew he played with skunky because I will consistently go to bed with skunky out in the living room and wake up to find skunky at the foot of the bed.

Saturday I got to see Angelo and Skunky in action.  It was awe inspiring.  Here’s my 13 year old kitty being all rough and tumble with Skunky.

You go Angelo.

Motivation…

Or Lack Of.

Cause yesterday was not a motivation building day.

Got home after 7pm last night from work.  The big parent meeting I planned for our school, well it was a good important meeting, but it was a good important meeting that had very little impact on a school wide basis due to turnout.  Welcome to education AJ.

So I came home tired… and my general rule of “If I am out of the house for twelve hours or more during the work day I won’t exercise,” held true; even if I wanted to get back to it this week.

Instead I planned on walking through the door, putting some tv on and drawing.

Instead of that I walked through the door and cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes and picked up the living room.  It’s pretty much the same thing as I planned…. right?

The whole time cleaning up I thought, ‘I can do this now and then collapse on the couch with Sam and eat some dinner and zone out to some Lost.”  It had been a long day, and that seemed like the perfect way to end it.

Instead (see all these insteads) minor crisis meant helping Sam for several hours.

Crawled into bed around 11:30, completely asleep by midnight.

5 – 6 hours of sleep multiple nights in a row.

Angelo Poo on the carpet

NO.  Yay.  His poo swings are devastating when he decides to go all carpet on me.  But today, today he hit the litter box.  That’s a big plus.

So motivation to myself moving this morning is a little rough.  That shining spot of Angelo’s keenly placed poo isn’t enough to get me all excited for the day.  So I’ll head to work and make it through the day like I do every day.

Tonight, hopefully I’ll be home at a semi-normal hour.  Exercise.  Make a dinner (Rice, chicken, veggies?).  Watch the Sabres.  Come away excited that they won huge. Scoop hopefully well place Angelo poo.  Maybe take a bath.  Get in bed before 11.

That’s the plan.  Lets hope it works and doesn’t involve ‘instead’.

Snooty… or is it snotty

Its snotty.  I’m fairly certain it is snotty.  Which is what I am this morning.  Pretty snotty.  One of those snotty mornings where you blow your nose and immediately realize you should have used six tissues instead of one because you completely destroyed the one you used.

That paragraph alone proves this wasn’t a snooty post.

Anyways, being a Buffalo Hockey fan means my nights haven’t been that great lately.  I was listening to NHL radio over the weekend and they talked about how bi-polar the Sabres are.  When they are there on, there is no defense against them.  Unfortunately they aren’t on often, or for even a whole game.  Basing my nights around hockey games is getting sad, but dammit I bought NHL GameCenter to watch these games, and like any true fan, I’ll still watch their games, even when horrible.

But… despite the Sabres loss and my snotty morning, Angelo is make me feel better.  Cause he’s a cat and can do things like that.
