[thuds]

I was watching a Mission Impossible movie the other day and Tom Cruises character punched someone and the screen went back for a split second and

[thuds]

was the only thing on the screen.

It took me a second or two before I realized it was supposed to be the sound of him punching two people, or them unconscious hitting the ground, or something similar.

We use subtitles perpetually in our house.  Really since I started dating Sam 15+ years ago we started putting subtitles on for everything.

But occasionally it looks like an old Adam West Batman type thing.

I put off running this morning.  It is currently 9 degrees outside and our drafty garage is never much warmer than that – maybe 15 to 20 degrees warmer but that is not the temperature I want to exercise in at 5 am.  Maybe if I ran at night it might be easier to be motivated.

At Home

I haven’t been motivated much to work this week.  Last week’s board meeting was draining.

I have enjoyed the courses on non-profit work, board etiquette and fundraising.  But this week I’ve been reading and listening to music instead.  Plus it’s damned cold out.

My mom may not approve…

But I love feeling the cold on my skin. It’s 30 degrees outside and I just walked to the coffee shop with no jacket, a baseball cap, and scarf on. It was brisk and windy and I loved every second of it. My ears getting chilly, the cold air on my cheeks, knuckles getting white, and a giant smile on my face.

Chalk it under “one more reason I belong in the north.” Aside from needing to see four seasons in the environment, I like the cold.
