Escape

My meetings this morning went short.  After copying some notes down and reviewing documents from cancelled meetings, I found myself with nearly an hour to spare before Edith was done with Earthlings this morning.

I renewed my domain and hosting plan for the next 5 years.  Crazy that I have had this site in one form or another for 16 years.  And before this domain a blogspot type thing for a few years before.  I will probably look around for a cheaper hosting plan in the future.

But that’s a problem for an AJ who is in his 50’s, not current AJ.

Instead I got a donut and coffee and went for a short walk.  It’s 41°F out.  Not warm by any means, but warm enough to not need a hat or sweater, just a loose button down over a short sleeve shirt, some headphones and my kindle – I like walking and reading… And listening to music.  Weird.

But the park I’m walking in is far from expansive.  But it doesn’t need to be with looping trails.

It still feels like an escape into the woods though. Look the right way down a path and you can’t see a way out, or a road, or anything other than a built up embankment on the small stream.

I only walked for 15 minutes.  But it was a nice walk for Northeast Ohio in January.

Met some kids at the park…

Marceline and I went for a walk in the park today.

Two children biked past us, a little girl with training wheels and a boy without, but not totally in control on two wheels.

The girl zipped on by, but the boy actually got off his bike to share the path with us. Super awesome.

Their father was walking just behind them and super happy to hear how polite the boy was.

Marceline and I continued our way and they theirs.

About a half mile down the path I hear “Passing on the left!” The little boy zipped past and immediately ran his bike into the grass. He ran over to us tell us that was on purpose and asked some questions about Marceline.

A minute later the father and sister came around the corner and we all had a brief polite conversation.

It would have nice, but kind of unmemorable interaction except for one random comment the father slipped in…

“I’m glad you’re not a child molester or kidnapper or anything.”

Me too dude, me too.

Morning Walk

Now that the weather has cooled some, Marceline and I have fine for morning walks aground the neighborhood after her first feeding each morning. Just a short half mile walk around the neighborhood.

It’s not much, but it sure is a nice way to start the day.
