A few years ago Sam and I discovered a local sandwich around the corner from the apartment we lived in.

I say a few years ago, but at this point it’s been nearly a decade since we’ve been there.

But Gabe’s Deli was a gem.  The perfect corner sandwich place. And the perfect sandwich was called The Wilshire.

The Wilshire was a turkey sandwich with LTO (lettuce, tomato, and onion), havarti cheese and mayonnaise on a ciabatta roll.

Doesn’t sound like anything special but wow was it delicious. And thankfully reproducible. Because Gabe’s sadly went out of business years ago.
