Swollen Kitty Face

I took Oscar for a walk last night. He’s been pretty docile lately and I have been saying I wanted to walk him more so we headed out the door at 10 pm for a quick walk.

I say walk but what I really mean is stand. I stand and Oscar eats grass and rolls on the sidewalk. After about fifteen minutes of this I pick him up to head inside. As soon as I start picking him up he meows loudly and latches onto me.

When we get upstairs I noticed that the right side of his face had swollen up. I wake Sam up to ask her about it but she is too groggy to reply coherently.

This morning I got up and his face was still swollen. After a little research by Sam and myself and it looks most likely to be a bad sting or bug bite. A little deeper research and it could possible be an abscess or broken tooth.

Upon return from work he still is swollen and acting very lethargic. I didn’t think he had eaten so I bought snacks and Nutritional Cat Milk. He had sitting in the window for hours so I brought the food and some water to him. He drank a lot of water and some of the food but still laid there lazily.

He does purr when I pet him. He still uses the litter box. But hasn’t made a peep since last night. I called the vet and have an appointment in the morning to bring him in.

He looks sad and tired. I hope the vet can fix him up.

Walking the Cat

I took Oscar for a walk today.  I’ve had him for just over a year, and he oppressively meows at the doorway wanting to get out.  Anyways, a few weeks ago I bought a leash.  I put it on him and have let him meander around trying to get used to the leash.  I’ve even taken in the hallway (although he just rolls on his back out there).

Anyways, I let him walk outside (his second outdoor trip since getting the leash) and took a little video to show how great it is to walk a cat.

Oscar Walk

After walking around for a bit (and sorry for the breathing noises that are there, haven’t taken many videos with my phone before), I put him in my car and we headed to the park.  I got him out of the car for about two minutes before he came running back to the car.  We had to sit there for a minute for him to get used to the noise.  After that he had a solid twenty minutes of exploring the area.  He ran away from everyone that was around, but had fun I think.
