This was a woman's eye, and then a sketch of a
woman's back. I think it came out well.
03/30/09 12:22
I was listening to the Sheila Divine. I think they
are one of my favorite bands that never made it big.
This is from the song Sweep the Leg.
03/29/09 12:21
I've liked drawing eyes lately. I think I'm getting
better at them. Maybe I'll work on noses and mouths
soon. I always have trouble with those.
03/28/09 12:19
This quote is from the same Smashing Pumpkins song,
Real Love.
03/27/09 12:17
I kind of liked this one. Based off a Smashing
Pumpkins song called Real Love. I liked this quote,
"Real Love or Is It Me You're After."
03/26/09 12:13
This one didn't come out too well. It was a neat idea
but I drew it kind of quick and didn't put much time
or energy into it. Maybe I'll try it again some day.
I hate drawing guitars but keep wanting to draw them.
I'm no good at it.
03/25/09 23:59
I was listening to the song
Stay by
Belly. They were a band from
the early 90's. After listening to the song I
thought about a homeless person. A quick search
lead me to this
picture. I thought it was a
great picture with lots of emotion. I don't know
how much of the emotion came through, but it was
a good guide to draw from.
03/24/09 00:27
These are a drawing of sneakers I have. One foot is
flat on the ground, the other lifted up to start
walking. I was listening to the song Acetone by the
band Mudhoney. It plays at the end of the movie Glory
Daze. A great college flick that reminds you how
you'll never meet friends like the one you met in
college.
03/23/09 00:27
I was thinking of a skipping stone. Skipping across
the water. And finally sinking to the bottom after
hitting the last skip.
03/22/09 00:27
The Smashing Pumpkins put out these free albums back
in 2001 called Machina II : the Friends and Enemies
of Modern Music. It was distributed for free on the
internet. You can still find them to download. One of
the songs was called If there is a God. Some of the
lyrics are grammatically incorrect. But that's how
they were written.
03/21/09 00:27
I was thinking of the word destitute. There's a song
by the Distillers called Dismantle Me. I've been
trying to think of what to draw for it. I kept coming
to the lyrics "I fancy your, but I've been
destitute." So yeah. The word destitute. Means
without the basic necessities of life. I
thought of someone just sitting against the wall,
with nothing at all to look up for.
03/20/09 00:22
Ever feel like you are only half here, half there.
Never fully anywhere. The words are from a Pixies
song.
03/19/09 00:22
Just a picture of someone sleeping.
03/18/09 00:22
Another lyric from a Wussy song. Great new band.
03/17/09 00:22
I've been working on a mix CD lately. Reminded me of
when I made my first mix tape. I called it Death on a
Stick. Actually drew a little stick figure that was
impaled. It was high school after all.
03/15/09 23:46
I was sitting at park by the lake waiting for my
frisbee golf partner to show up. She showed up about
an hour and half late and by then it was too cold and
dark to play. We walked and she told me all her life
problems and then she left about fifteen minutes
later. But in while waiting I drew this picture.
There were these three smoke stacks way down the
lake. I liked the sight of them. So I drew them, and
then a hand grabbing it. It came really well I think.
So I guess it wasn't a total bust.
03/14/09 13:23
I've been listening to a lot of Wussy lately. This is
from the song
Airborne. Its an image of a
guy just laying back on a couch. Like any other
Thursday. I realize I've been doing a lot of
these "lyric drawings" but its what has been on
my mind lately.
03/13/09 13:23
Wussy. What a great band. For a band that I never
heard of before Wednesday.....They've really been
embedded in my mind. This is from the song
Soak It Up.
03/12/09 13:23
More from
Piebald. To be honest I hated
them in college. Their early stuff was so raw
and awful and then they started making great
music. This song was called
New Coke. Yeah its a raw
early song. But shows their potential.
03/11/09 13:18
This is from a song from the band
Piebald. Thank you Steve. I
don't hate you for introducing me to Piebald.
Maybe some slight hate for not telling me you
were getting married, or not inviting me to the
wedding, or giving a reason for me not being
invited. And maybe there is some slight anger
over you inviting me out the weekend you were
getting married (even though I was not invited
to the wedding) because you said you wanted to
see me before moving to Florida, but then not
returning any of my phone calls that
weekend....when I had specifically dropped
everything I was doing and drive 5 hours to see
you the weekend before work started and told you
the only reason I was coming was to see you
before you move. No I don't hold a grudge. By
way....did your marriage fail. I don't know for
sure, since I haven't talked to you since, but
word is it has. That's a shame. By the way,
everyone's wedding that I have been present
at....they're all still married.
Wow...got that off my chest. The song this is from is
called
Holden Caufield.
03/10/09 11:22
This one didn't come out how I intended. I wanted a
lady's face looking up. Half her face, in the lower
left hand corner. and a guy in a doorway silhouetted
in the top right hand corner. But after drawing the
guy silhouetted I decided I wanted another shot at
drawing a silhouette. So I found a random picture of
a lady leaning again a doorway and drew it as a
silhouette. Unfortunately she had her arms crossed.
And while it is a good outline of her, with out
detail it just looks like she has big boobs. Whoops.
Anyways, the idea for the drawing and the lyric come
from a Portishead song.
03/09/09 23:29
More Smashing Pumpkins influence. This is from the
song Vanity. It actually came out better than I
thought it would. I've been drawing a lot to music
lately.
03/08/09 23:26
Around the time they broke up (before reforming a few
years ago), the Smashing Pumpkins released this album
on the internet only, for free called Machina II:
Friends and Enemies of Modern Music. It was a dual
disc set (that you could only download, not but, so
really no discs). It had some of the best Smashing
Pumpkins songs I've ever heard on it. One is called
Slow Dawn. Its just fantastic. So I drew from it, and
drew this.
03/07/09 23:25
I was listening to Hum today. And then I drew a few
separate images. And then was drawing lines to
separate them. But saw the lines turning into lungs.
And thought it was so much more interesting that way.
03/06/09 23:24
A collection. Of memories.
03/05/09 23:22
I think I was aiming for an amoeba. I got
sidetracked. And then bored. And then saw and eye,
nose, and mouth to be added.
03/04/09 23:20
Reg loves the Killers. I like them too. I'm sure you
can find something to like about them too.
03/03/09 23:19
Smashing Pumpkins again. Man they rock. When I
thought of a guiding light all I saw was a beam from
the heavens. And guiding in a happy carefree way.
Hence all the zig zagging.
03/02/09 23:17
The Cure. That's it. Its from a Cure song.
03/01/09 23:14
I've always loved Radiohead. Amnesiac and Kid A are
still my favorite albums. I once had this theory that
you could measure time and distance in Radiohead
songs. Start at the very beginning of their catalogue
and see how many songs it takes you to get where ever
you were heading.
So yeah. Knives Out.
