I've been listening to
Moby lately. Specifically the
album
Play. The song that was on my
mind was
Porcelain. I've had all this
fun lately rediscovering music from years ago. I
can remember when this album came out.....but am
shocked to discover it was a whole ten years
ago. I mean.....it doesn't seem like that long.
But it was.
I really like this song. Here are the whole lyrics:
In my dreams
I'm dying all the time
As I wake its kaleidoscopic mind
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
So this is goodbye
This is goodbye
Tell the truth you never wanted me
Tell me
In my dreams I'm jealous all the time
As I wake I'm going out of my mind
Going out of my mind

I am reading a biography of Abraham Lincoln. The book
is called
A Team of Rivals. Its
fantastic, if you like history texts that is.
Anyways this is a quote from one of Lincoln's
rivals and later cabinet member
William H. Seward. He was
talking about saving the Union, but I found it a
great quote.

This collection of sketches came out pretty good. I
likes it.
05/28/09 21:03
Bumblebee Tuna. Who doesn't
love it. Or the song. "What song?" you say. Why
the Bumblebee Tuna song by the band
Mephiskapheles. That's right.
It rocks. Here it
here.
05/27/09 21:03
More random sketches. Woooo.
05/26/09 21:03
I wanted this picture of my eyes looking sideways. My
biggest problem is that I can't seem to get the hand
and the head to be proportional.
05/25/09 23:29
This came out weird. The guy has bug eyes. BUG EYES.
Ahhhhhhhhh!!!
05/24/09 23:27
Just a silhouette. Nothing more. Ok. Maybe he's
frustrated.
05/23/09 23:26
This a tin can that holds pens and pencils at work.
Nicely drawn.
05/21/09 23:26
Here is another collection of random sketches.
Basically when I cannot come up with something to
draw I let my pen wander. These haven't come out that
great lately but I've been drawing. That's the point.

So if you read the book Fight Club as opposed to just
being familiar to the movie you find quite a few
differences. The main character is in a coma and has
this conversation with God. God implores him to
realize that every single person is special and the
main character gives up talking to God and says
"Yeah, well whatever. You can't teach God anything."
The whole premise of religion in the book is that if
a father is the image of God in a boy's head, what
happens when your father is never around? Its an
interesting premise. The main character talks about
how his father was never in his life. Thus his
version of God. Anyways...this is a take off it I did
in two minutes one night.
05/19/09 23:25
There's this
Killer's song called 'My
List' I think. Anyways this lyric always catches
my mind when I hear it. Ha....just looked it up
to be sure. The song is called
Read My Mind. How could I
miss that?
05/18/09 23:25
Just a collection of sketches thrown together. Why
not right.
05/17/09 20:23
Yep. Details are all lost on this scanner.
05/16/09 20:22
I am going to try and start drawing the human figure
more realistically. I am going to buy one of those
wooden model figures to draw from. I even downloading
a drawing book on the human form I am going to try
and work through. But I figure that I need a cheap
sketchbook to do that in, those wouldn't count
towards my daily drawings. I basically want to be
able to draw a person without having to use a picture
as a reference, and have it look somewhat realistic.
05/15/09 20:22
I've been listening to the Moldy Peaches often
lately. Some nameless fantastic soul keeps bringing
one song back into my head by making it their away
message. I always wondered if its in reference to me.
Anyways, this was from one of their other songs,
called
Nothing Came Out.
05/14/09 20:22
I was listening to the song
Kerosene by the band Bad
Religion tonight. I had this image in my head of
a homeless man sleeping by a barrel fire. And
even though I think this drawing is pretty
faithful to the image I found on google, he
still looks like he has a hump back.
05/13/09 20:22
I forget exactly what song I was listening too, but
it mentioned something about him, or her, or you
being miles away. I think it was a Portishead song.
No that's wrong, it is from a PJ Harvey song,
Angelene. But I changed it a
little. This is another case of my scanner not
catching enough detail.
05/12/09 01:11
I think this is kind of self explanatory, especially
after you read the lyrics. Its from the Sparta song
Cut Your Ribbon.
05/11/09 01:11
One of the more recent Smashing Pumpkins songs is
called Rose March.
"I lay roses at your feet
'till you decided there is something great in you"
05/10/09 01:11
Would I ever raise a fist?
05/09/09 01:11
A while I drew some pictures to the Smashing Pumpkins
song If There Is A God. In it Billy Corgan questions
if God is among us. And if he's come and gone. He
asks the questions "Who are you this time?"
05/08/09 01:10
I was listening to Modest Mouse today. He has a song
called Polar Opposites. Nice and haunting. Made me
think of two people that were polar opposites, the
poles of a planet essentially. Forever trying to
reach each, but never actually touching.
05/07/09 00:40
A quick sketch of a man holding a cup of coffee. And
an eyeball in the background. A maybe, if it scanned
in, a tear.
05/06/09 00:40
This looks much better in my sketchpad as opposed to
the scan. It is missing a lot of detail. I am trying
to draw other people as well as I draw myself. The
difference being I'm not critical of drawing myself.
So rather than draw someone I know, I just picked a
random picture off google's image search and this is
what I got.
05/05/09 00:40
I drew a bunch of random stuff today, and really
really like how it came out. I started trying to draw
a woman's dress and this is how I ended up.
05/04/09 00:40
This me leaning on my hand. I wish my scanner was
better. It doesn't pick up much light shading. Its
frustrating to scan and not see the details.
05/03/09 00:40
I drew this randomly at work. Came out ok.
05/02/09 00:40
I like drawing hands. It was something I've always
had trouble with, but am getting a lot better. This
one was particularly weird. I took a bunch of
pictures of my hand and picked this one to draw. I
like the angle because you can't see much of my
fingers.
05/01/09 00:40
I had this image in my head of a guy sitting on the
edge of a building looking down, like he was leaning
over about to fall. I think it came out pretty good.
